Ab Initio (Introductory) Course – Deposit

$500.00

We offer full five day live in instructional courses to take you from student to your first solo as quickly as possible. Courses are generally limited to 6. At least two instructors, two training aircraft and a tow plane are dedicated to each course.

You can expect an average of 4 flights each day with interactive theory classes in a discussion/briefing format each morning before flying commences or after dinner at night.

You will learn quickly in this environment. Depending on skills and previous experience some students will solo by the end of the five days. For those who don’t, most attain solo-status within the following few weeks during normal club operations, depending on how often they visit to fly.

If you already have some flying experience we will tailor flying instruction to your skill level.

We offer two courses every year:

  • Easter Weekend – 4 (or 5) days Friday to Monday (or Tuesday)
  • October School Holidays – 5 days Monday to Friday
or – if you can find three friends we will arrange a personalised course with timing to suit (over two weekends for example).

A $500 booking fee is required to secure a course placement. The balance is payable prior to the start of the course and will be credited to your flying account which will be deducted as you progress. If funds run down before the course finishes you can easily top up your account on site.

Site accommodation in our guest rooms or caravan park is included in the course fee subject to availability. Bookings are essential.

Courses are usually self catered. However, catering may be available at extra cost in some cases. Please inquire if this is of interest. Food is readily available in supermarkets in Narrogin town. Refrigerators are available on site.

Australian regulations require that all students must be a member of the Gliding Federation of Australia and Narrogin Gliding Club. There are options for these and charges are not included in the course fee. Details will be provided in an information pack when we respond to your enquiry and we will help you to complete these requirements.

Please note that to comply with glider design rules, maximum individual seat load is 110kg.
