Want to learn to fly a glider?

Join our next training course!

You can come to the club any weekend to start your training, but a great way to do it is to join a course. We have two regular beginners' courses every year (we call them ab initio's), one over the Easter break and one in October. Courses give you a concentrated burst of quality training that gets you going quickly, even if you've never done anything like this before.

We choose these times of year, which are either end of the soaring season, because the weather is usually perfect for training. Not too hot, not too cold and not too rough, so trainees can really make good progress. Big summer conditions with lots of heating and strong thermals are wonderful to fly in, but not so easy for first-time trainees.

On the other hand, if you have a group of four or more who would like your very own course to have fun in together, give us a call. We'll be happy to organise a special course to suit your needs and schedule.

Courses usually run for a week from Sunday to Sunday. The first Sunday is the travelling day - everyone turns up sometime in the afternoon and we have a welcome BBQ to kick it off. Flying starts the next day.

Like to have your kids run out to congratulate you on your first solo?

Give us a call to have a chat, or book your place. We'd love to see you.

Look for costs, details and contact information under the Training and Courses section of the website.
